Ayurveda |
What is the ayurveda? Ayurveda is the health promoting and medicianal philosophy of the ancient India, that is more than 5000 year old. It’s meaning is the knowledge of the life (ayu=life, veda=knowledge). The name of ayurveda is exceptionally expressive as this philosophy really covers and integrates all that knowledge that humanity accumulated from the full life and from the health. According to this we cannot say that other folk’s health promoting philosophy or the modern medicine is not ayurveda, indeed… WHAT IS ayurveda?I think that ayurveda is one of the most developed framework existing today, that shepherds all those health promoting and healer philosophies, methods into a uniform thinking that people knows and use in the every day life.
Ayurveda science can be said more developed than the today’s medical science even if in it’s original home it is slowly pushed into background against the secular science. It’s development is hidden in the fact that there are no hard boundaries concerning the lifestyle, the prevention of the illnesses and their healing, but it will integrate the people’s vital processes into a uniform system. A big advantage of ayurveda is also that it sees the people more complex analysing both the spiritual and material processes, so it is also able to offer more complex solutions for the healing.
WHAT IS NOT AYURVEDA?First of all ayurveda is not a religion. Both the ancient and today’s ayurveda can be used on theist and atheist people although in the indian mithology it is related to divinity. Ayurveda is reaching the recovery with easy phisical methods (herb products, massage etc.) free of different kind of religion expectations. At the same time of course we have to mention that the faith of the person who wants to heal (even the faith into God or into the recovery) can multiply the power of the healing, or rather it can shorten the recovery time.
Unfortunately the european people like also the hungarian ayurvedic people will mix up the true principles of ayurveda with all kind of idols, with oriental appearance, hereby they will mark ayurveda with things which will blur the true doctrines. Ayurveda won’t be useful because of oriental idols, from rituals and mainly not from oriental furnitures and flat ornaments. A lot of people who are dealing with ayurveda will splice their incomprehension into the gown of the “tradition”. On the hungarian markets unknown ayurvedic therapies can be found, which has been never integrated into the ayurvedic philosophy, but most of the ayurvedic specialists does not deal with the ayurvedic body type of the patient. At the same time the accessories of the oriental image like the God pictures, sculptures, fumigants can be found everywhere.
Ayurveda is not a method. In the introductory text I have used the philosophy word deliberately as ayurveda is about that the person who is going through the senses and material evolution, is having several kind of specialities in the different states of the evolution. The images in his consciousness, his desires and denials will define his individuality, his spiritual and material temperament. Ayurveda is a philosophy that is taking these temperaments factors into consideration and it helps the person to liberate from the bodily pains and illnesses. Since because of the mentioned reasons every people are different, many ways belongs to the entirety, to the health, as well as to the health preservation. According to this we can see that only that person is able to heal according to the ayurvedic principles, who is having big enough knowledge about the mysteries of the human spirit and body. Ayurveda is better an art from the point of the healer and the therapist. It is the art of recognising the patients’s deep spiritual processes and to resolve that reason that has made the person ill. First of all to this there is a need for huge empathy and commitment. The view of a money centralized thinking helps very rarely. In an ayurvedic standard work, the Charaka Samhita, appearing in B.C. 1555, there is a world about intellectual basic principles. According to this even if an ayurvedic doctor has full knowledge about ayurveda but he cannot reach the inner essence, spirit of the patient, than that doctor will never be an effective healer. In addition to this even if the therapist is blessed with fortune and fame, but this does not join with a spiritual development, than also that ayurvedic doctor won’t be an effective healer.
From the last sentence it follows that ayurveda is not a physical curative science. According to the ayurveda teaching every bodily illness is caused by a spiritual-senses reason. With ceasing the spiritual reason, the bodily illness will also disappear. So ayurveda is a spiritual science, which is having much more developed knowledge about the mysteries of the spirit than the modern psychology.
The aim of ayurvedaTo be able to recognise the aim of ayurveda, we need to know the teachings of the mantras (indian scriptures:Rigveda, Yajurveda, Atharvaveda, Samaveda). According to the vedas the person is following four aims in his life. These are following:
Between the four life aims there is no better or worse way. The free will has been given to the person that he can choose. As long as the human senses comes into duality in between reaching these aims, the person will loose it’s entirety feeling, and in absence of the entirety, sooner or later his health as weel. Ayurveda can provide exemplary value, that is able to preserve or recover the entirety (on a physical level the health) , any of the roads the person is selecting.
So ayurveda is rising above the aims of the human entity and we can talk about two main aims, which are following:
So ayurveda does not want to modify the human ambitions, the human individuality, but it’s trying to co-ordniate the senses and the body. So it will form the harmony of spirit-senses-body.
The decline of ayurvedaAyurveda is declining also in his original home, in India. Unfortunately ayurveda cannot and I hope it also does not want to compete with the fast but superficial symptomatic treatment of the modern science. The person who is following revved lifestyle doesn’t have time to do his healing process until the reason of the illness stops totally but he is satisfied with it if the symptom of the illness does not hold him up reaching his aims any more.
The evil of the feeble person grew in such a measure that he keeps his material and other aims more important than his own happiness and health. At the same time the fruit of the healing of the science can be seen already which is happening like on a conveyer belt. The society produces monsters from himself: parent and child murderers, robbers, thieves, parasites and other evils. All this is due to that, that the person does not have a demand of restoring his bodily-spiritual balance.
The hope of ayurvedaThe hope of ayurveda consists that scattered there are still some people in the world, who does not think that ayurveda is a business opportunity but they are interested in the science of securing and preserving their bodily-spiritual health. Maybe there are still some people who are not coward confront to the not knowing, to the evil of the world and they are able to be faithful to the nature, to God.
